Universal Beijing Resort — Wizarding World (Beijing, 2021)
Themed signage & immersive props
Overview
Invited to compete for a flagship themed zone, we secured the contract and delivered end-to-end: concept refinement, engineering, fabrication, pre-assembly, and documentation. Our scope covered Hogsmeade-style shopfronts and hanging signs (e.g., Honeydukes), carved/forged motifs, antler mounts, broom-and-lantern brackets, patinated plaques, and code-compliant safety boards—aligning cinematic craft with park-grade durability.
Delivery model: engineered for client-side installation. We supplied full install manuals, labeled crates, wiring maps, and mounting templates.
Purpose
Create immediate suspension of disbelief while supporting operations—wayfinding and safety messaging that feel native to the storyworld—so guests move naturally from see it → explore it → share it.
Materials & Techniques
- Primary Builds: FRP/fiberglass skins on aluminum/steel sub-frames; resin-cast plaques and antlers; forged-look brackets; CNC-cut lettering.
- Surface Treatment: Multi-layer hand painting, glazes, dry-brush aging, corrosion/patina effects, chipped enamel sign paint, faux-wood broom textures, and soot/weather staining to read authentically at guest distance.
- Lighting: Low-voltage LED lanterns with diffusion; concealed cable routing; park-rated connectors and weather seals.
- Engineering Details: Modular panels and sub-assemblies; tamper-resistant fixings; safety edges; flexible mounting to uneven masonry; durable UV and abrasion-resistant topcoats; case labeled packing with sequence plans and rigging diagrams.
